The first draft of the new GLAS scheme was recently announced by the Department of Agriculture. In this draft document a number of birds have been identified as species of conservation concern in Ireland – one of these is the grey partridge.

The draft document sets out the details of the scheme and the locations where the new grey partridge measure will be implemented. Although it is not finalized the Trust are hoping that this document will be finalized soon.

Indeed it is a most welcome development, which has taken a long time to bring to fruition and it is a measure that targets the ecological requirements of the grey partridge.
